Lots of post

Woooooi what a nice surprise.
I've been away for a short while and look what I found in my postbox.
No, not the cat ;)) Joseph is part of the household.
He will use any blanket for a nice moment of rest and cat-meditation.

Sheep from York

Holly from York sent me a Postcrossing-postcard.
Reading her profile I discovered she makes little crochet  and knitted animals (Sminky Knits) and leaves them in the free for other people to find. What a lovely idea. I asked Holly if she also has a sheep-pattern... and she sent me three patterns!

Now, the knitting of the sheep was easy, simple, relaxing. But the sewing together was a complete nightmare. My first knitted sheep looks like a cat/pig or pig/cat. Hopefully there is hope and the other sheep will look better.

Nicoletta Cecolli

Another awesome, stunning illustrator I discovered in the small artshop in De Hoogstraat in Amsterdam: Nicoletta Cecolli.

Her work has this fairy, mystique, sad, modest, children's book, Alice in Wonderland, humoristic touch. The colours are a wonderful combination of pastel.  On her website it says she was awarded the Andersen prize as best Italian illustrator of the year 2001. Beautiful work on her website.

The angel on the swing I sent to a dear friend whose father passed away recently.

Reading post in bed

Patricia from France is one of the rare Postcrossers that wouldn't mind receiving a handmade postcard.
I like that! It's an extra challenge.
This was the result. And yes, I have a preference for blue ;))

It's always exciting whether the postcrosser really likes the result. Patricia did, which is a relieve. She even sent me a picture with my handmade postcard framed, hanging on her bedroom wall. So nice.

Bubble bath cat from China

This is so sweet. PanPan from China received a postcard from me. She liked it so much that she asked my address and sent me this cute cat in bubble bath.
Finding it in the postbox definitely was a smile-moment ;))

ps: the cat has only 3 legs... but two flipflop slippers.

Flow's day calender

Happy 2012
A new year with 366 days but much more important -> 52 fresh weekends.

During these holidays I treated myself on the december issue of Flow Magazine. It appeared for the first time on the Dutch market in 2009. The slogans of Flow are 'mindfulness', 'simplify your life', 'be mindful' and 'spoil yourself'.

It's a different kind of magazine as it pays a lot of attention on stationary, illustrations and paper things. Every issue has a list with interesting links and a special about a creative woman.
Very, very inspiring.

Now, there was a DIY-calender in the december issue. It took a while to tear all the little leaves and chain them on some wire, but the result is worth is.
It takes a while, but then you have something!

So here is my Flow-calender for 2012 with wise quotes, funny tips and inspirational what-so-evers.

Postboxes closed

Yesterday and today the red postboxes in the Netherlands are closed. 'Tijdelijk buiten gebruik' = 'Temporarily out of order'.

Must be a lot of work. Closing all those boxes... and opening them again tomorrow. All because of some eejits who may have the stupid idea of putting fireworks in them.
What is the situation in your country?
